The developer unveiled the plan during the game's World Championship Finals livestream and said Year Two officially begins on November 3, 2026.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched on September 25, 2025 and is available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Major Day One updates arrive when Year Two begins.
SEGA described a new Duel Mode as a 1v1 competitive format where item use and a new Duel Boost gauge are central to victory.
The Duel Boost fills over time and can be amplified through frequent item usage to produce powerful bursts of speed.
Players will also be able to see opponents' items, gadgets and race position, encouraging both offensive and defensive play.
Duel Mode supports offline Rival Duel matches against CPU opponents, free online matchmaking, limited-time Best-of-10 online events with Duel Class ranks and medals, and private Friend Matches with customizable rules.
The Year Two launch also upgrades the gadget system.
SEGA is introducing the Grand Master Plate with a seventh Super Slot for one-slot gadgets; any gadget placed in that slot receives an amplified effect.
Fifteen new gadgets are slated for Day One, expanding the options for performance and strategy.
SEGA further confirmed that characters added to the roster after the game's September 25, 2025 release — both free and paid DLC — will appear as CPU racers in online and offline modes.
Free character drops for Year Two were announced.
Bayonetta will be available to unlock via Rival Duel matches on November 3, 2026.
A McLaren Racing machine modeled after the real car will arrive later in November 2026.
Aigis, from the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, will join with an Acceleration-type machine in early 2027.
Each free character launch will be followed by a ten-day Limited Time Event Festival.
SEGA also outlined six premium DLC packs: the Godzilla Pack (November 3, 2026), EVANGELION Pack (January 2027), Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack (Q2 2027), SEGALAND Pack (Q3 2027), a Midgar Pack from the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series (Q3 2027) and a Reload Revival Royal Pack from the Persona series (Q4 2027).
Bonus Season Pass content includes a SEGA Controllers Decal Pack available October 9, 2026, a SEGA Consoles Pack purchasable November 3, 2026, and Super Shadow available November 3, 2026 for players who own both Season Pass One and Season Pass Two.
All updates and DLC will be distributed through the game's supported storefronts, including the Nintendo eShop for Switch and Switch 2.
SEGA released a detailed Year Two showcase video documenting the full roadmap and content drops.
