Palworld on Switch 2: Pocketpair Calls Switch 2 "a Really Amazing Platform" Amid Legal Dispute

Palworld developer Pocketpair has signalled openness to porting its monster-taming survival game to Nintendo's next hybrid hardware, the Switch 2, while a separate legal dispute with Nintendo remains unresolved.

Palworld, developed by Pocketpair, launched on PC in early 2024 via Steam Early Access and quickly drew attention for its blend of creature collection, crafting and survival mechanics.

The discussion about a Nintendo release comes as the developer faces an ongoing legal case with Nintendo; the matter is scheduled to reach a preliminary stage at the Tokyo District Court in the near future.

In a recent interview with VGC, Pocketpair CEO Takuru Mizobe praised Nintendo's upcoming hardware, describing the Switch 2 as an impressive platform.

Rewriting Mizobe's remarks in journalistic terms: Mizobe said that Pocketpair regards the Switch 2 as a "really amazing platform" and that the studio would welcome the opportunity to discuss bringing Palworld to the system should circumstances and timing allow.

The company’s comments come against an acknowledged backdrop of legal and technical hurdles.

As reported previously, Pocketpair has indicated that a version of Palworld for the original Nintendo Switch was unlikely due to the system’s technical limits.

Pocketpair’s communications director, John Buckley, has also commented that a Switch 2 port would be worth considering if the new hardware’s specifications were sufficiently robust; paraphrased, Buckley noted the team would evaluate a Switch 2 release if the console’s performance and features met the game’s needs.

Any future conversations between Pocketpair and Nintendo about a Switch 2 release would be conditioned by the outcome of the legal proceedings and by technical feasibility.

The developer has publicly expressed interest in expanding Palworld’s platform reach when the opportunity presents itself, but has not announced any formal plans or release windows for Nintendo hardware.

For Nintendo observers and Palworld players, the situation is one to watch: Pocketpair has affirmed interest in Nintendo’s next-console generation, while the legal process at the Tokyo District Court will influence whether negotiations can proceed.

Until that process concludes and technical evaluations are completed, Palworld’s presence on the Switch 2 remains a prospective outcome rather than a confirmed release.
