Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Pac-Man as DLC, Release Dates Announced for Switch and Switch 2

At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, SEGA revealed a substantial update to its upcoming kart racing title, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

The new trailer confirmed that Pac-Man, the legendary mascot of Bandai Namco, will be making his debut as a playable character in the game.

This highly anticipated crossover content is set to launch in early 2026 as part of the Season Pass DLC.

Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will receive the Pac-Man character and his themed track as part of their package, while others will have the option to purchase this DLC separately. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is SEGA’s latest entry in the Sonic racing franchise and is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch on September 25, 2025.

A version for the new Switch 2 hardware will be available at a later date, expanding accessibility for fans across both console generations.

The game aims to build on the success of previous Sonic racing titles with new tracks, characters, and a broadened selection of content through its season pass model. In a related announcement, Bandai Namco shared that PAC-MAN World 2 Re-PAC, the upcoming remaster of the classic platformer, will also be launching this September.

The game is set to release on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on September 26, 2025.

Notably, PAC-MAN World 2 Re-PAC will welcome a Sonic-themed DLC pack in late 2025, bringing elements from SEGA’s iconic mascot into the PAC-MAN universe for the first time in this form.

A SEGA representative described the collaboration as an exciting opportunity to bring two legendary gaming brands together, noting that "we’re excited to give fans new ways to experience both Sonic and Pac-Man across our latest titles." Similarly, a statement from Bandai Namco emphasized their enthusiasm for integrating popular SEGA characters and content into their games, recognizing it as a momentous occasion for long-time fans of both franchises. Both Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and PAC-MAN World 2 Re-PAC highlight the ongoing partnership between SEGA and Bandai Namco, leveraging each other's iconic properties to create enriched experiences for players on the Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and through the eShop digital platform.
