Background on Nintendo Switch Online and Classic Systems Launched in September 2018, Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription service offering access to online multiplayer, cloud saves, special offers, and an ever-expanding library of classic games playable on Nintendo Switch.

Over the years, the service has incorporated beloved systems such as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Game Boy, Game Boy Advance (GBA), and Nintendo 64, giving fans access to their favorite retro titles.

This initial offering will be available until May 27, after which the next selection will follow.

The week beginning May 27 will introduce Game Boy and Game Boy Advance designs, while the final set—including SNES and GameCube icons—will become available during the week of June 3. Regular Nintendo Switch Online subscribers still have access to NES, SNES, and basic Game Boy icons, but the Expansion Pack is required to unlock the full suite, including the latest premium platform options.

Each icon remains affordable at 10 Platinum Points, the digital currency earned through activity in Nintendo’s rewards ecosystem.
