Nintendo has expanded its digital ecosystem for Southeast Asian players with the official launch of the Nintendo Switch App on iOS and Android devices across Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Available free of charge as of June 25, 2025, this milestone brings key Switch connectivity and content features to these regions for the first time, further bridging the gap between Nintendo’s popular hardware and the growing mobile audience.
This regional rollout comes at a significant moment for the gaming community, aligning closely with the highly anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2.
The Switch 2 is scheduled to launch in Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines on June 26, 2025, marking the next evolution in Nintendo’s award-winning console series.
The Nintendo Switch App allows users to seamlessly transfer and manage screenshots and video clips from the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to content management, the app connects players to a suite of game-specific services and exclusive content, such as the fan-favorite "ZELDA NOTES."
"We’re excited to provide players in Southeast Asia with optimized tools to enhance their Nintendo Switch experience, just in time for the Switch 2 launch," a Nintendo spokesperson confirmed, emphasizing the company's commitment to expanding access in emerging markets.
Importantly, the core features of the Nintendo Switch App are available without a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
However, some functionalities—like certain game modes or exclusive content—may still require an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
At this stage, Nintendo has clarified that full Switch Online services and the Nintendo eShop are not expected to be officially live in Singapore, Thailand, or the Philippines at the initial launch.
Nonetheless, the debut of the Nintendo Switch App is a meaningful step forward, providing users with greater connectivity and enriching the overall Nintendo gaming experience in these countries.
This move follows prior software launches and is in line with Nintendo’s ongoing efforts to make its platforms, services, and titles more accessible to a global audience.
With the Nintendo Switch platform consistently achieving robust global sales and a thriving software library, the company continues to deepen engagement with fans in expanding markets, just as the next-generation hardware arrives.
