Nintendo has officially announced a price increase for the Nintendo Switch platform in Canada.
This adjustment will impact a wide range of products, including hardware, software, and accessories, and comes as Nintendo responds to evolving market conditions in the region.
With more than seven years since its original launch, the Nintendo Switch has become a flagship console, selling over 125 million units globally and maintaining strong market presence through multiple iterations—such as the Nintendo Switch OLED Model and the budget-friendly Nintendo Switch Lite.
According to a Nintendo representative, the forthcoming price increase is a direct result of current market dynamics in Canada.
The new pricing structure will affect the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, the standard Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch Lite, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games.
In addition, Nintendo Switch accessories, including controllers and charging docks, will also see price adjustments.
Nintendo clarified that the revised prices extend to other related products, such as amiibo figurines and Nintendo Switch Online memberships, ensuring broad changes across their Canadian catalog.
Expressing the company’s official position, a spokesperson stated that modifications to pricing are being implemented in response to shifts in the Canadian market, with the aim of reflecting ongoing changes in operational costs and external economic factors.
Importantly, these amendments are limited strictly to Canada at this time, with no announcements regarding potential price changes for other regions, such as the United States or Europe.
Amid concerns about further increases, Nintendo has reassured customers that pricing for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2—along with its accessories and software—will remain unaffected for now.
This means Canadian gamers looking forward to the next-generation system can expect original launch pricing when it arrives.
The Nintendo Switch continues to enjoy critical and commercial success, with its extensive library available via both physical retailers and the Nintendo eShop.
As of this announcement, Nintendo has not provided an exact date for when the new pricing will go into effect, nor has it specified the degree of increase for individual products.
Nintendo encourages Canadian consumers to monitor official channels for timely updates and further details as they become available.
