The revision raises the Switch 2’s Nintendo Store price from £395.99 to £419.99 and mirrors concurrent changes in other regions.
When Nintendo revealed the global price update in May, the company said the United States price for Switch 2 would move from $449.99 to $499.99, while most European territories would see a rise from €469.99 to €499.99, with the new UK price remaining unconfirmed until this statement from Nintendo UK.
In a social media announcement, Nintendo UK stated that from 1 September the Nintendo Switch 2 price on the Nintendo Store will be adjusted from £395.99/€469.99 to £419.99/€499.99.
The company attributed the decision to "various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term," and acknowledged that the increase would be challenging for customers while expressing appreciation for the continued enthusiasm of Nintendo fans.
This price revision follows a wider industry pattern of hardware cost adjustments.
Both Microsoft and Sony have previously raised prices for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles, citing increases in component costs.
Reports point to rising prices for RAM and storage components — pressures linked to demand from construction of artificial intelligence data centres — as a contributing factor to higher manufacturing expenses for modern consoles.
For consumers and retailers, the move formalises Switch 2 pricing across Nintendo’s own storefront and will take effect on 1 September 2026.
Nintendo’s hardware strategy and pricing remain key considerations for the console market as manufacturers balance component costs with consumer demand.
