Nintendo Switch 2 Sets New Global Sales Record with Over 5.82 Million Units Sold
Nintendo has announced that cumulative sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 have surpassed 5.82 million units worldwide, marking a strong debut for the next generation of its popular console line.
The sales figures, disclosed in the company's recent financial report, highlight an impressive adoption rate since the Switch 2's international release on June 5, 2025.
In the financial results covering the three months ending June 30, 2025, Nintendo reported that 8.67 million Nintendo Switch 2 games had been sold in the same period.
Mario Kart World emerged as the standout title, leading the software sales with 5.63 million copies sold globally.
This performance underscores the enduring popularity of the Mario Kart franchise and Nintendo’s continued dominance in family-friendly gaming experiences.
Nintendo credited the robust momentum of Switch 2 sales to rapid post-launch adoption, stating in their explanatory material, "Sales of Nintendo Switch 2 have grown significantly following the launch, with over 6 million units sold-through globally within the first seven weeks." The company also acknowledged ongoing challenges with hardware availability, commenting, "Demand for Nintendo Switch 2 currently exceeds supply in many regions, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers.
Efforts are underway to reinforce our production and supply chains to deliver more Switch 2 hardware as soon as possible."
For the current fiscal year, Nintendo has set a sales forecast of 15 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
If realized, this target would surpass the initial year's performance of the original Nintendo Switch, which itself became one of the best-selling consoles of all time.
This projection reflects both consumer enthusiasm for the upgraded hardware and Nintendo’s confidence in meeting ongoing market demand.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is available now through major retailers throughout the world, with regional pricing set at £395.99 in the United Kingdom, €469.99 across Europe, and $449.99 in the United States.
The system continues to be supported by a robust lineup of first-party titles and a growing slate of third-party partnerships, all accessible via the Nintendo eShop.
By achieving these early milestones, Nintendo reinforces its leadership in the console gaming space, responding proactively to market demands and building on the enduring success of its hardware platforms.
