Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Surpass 10 Million Units Worldwide Amid Strong Software Launches

Nintendo Switch 2 has achieved a remarkable milestone, with global sales surpassing 10.36 million units as of September 30, 2025.

Launched on June 5, 2025, the successor to Nintendo’s highly successful console has enjoyed robust demand worldwide, building upon the legacy of its predecessor.

Strong Hardware and Software Performance According to Nintendo’s official financial results covering the six months ended September 30, 2025, the company reported that 20.62 million Nintendo Switch 2 software units have been sold globally.

Notably, this includes approximately 8.10 million units of games bundled with the hardware.

The sales performance demonstrates Nintendo’s sustained success in both hardware and software markets, even as initial launch demand begins to normalize. Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza Top Software Charts Among first-party releases, Mario Kart World stands out as the best-selling Nintendo Switch 2 title, with an impressive 9.57 million copies sold since launch.

Donkey Kong Bananza, released in July 2025, has also made a significant impact, achieving sales of over 3.49 million copies within a few months.

Nintendo noted that both titles, along with strong contributions from third-party publishers, have been instrumental in driving software unit sales for the platform’s launch period. In a statement provided in its financial materials, Nintendo explained that while hardware sales decreased from the initial surge following launch, unit sales have remained strong, recording 4.54 million consoles sold during the second quarter alone.

The company further clarified that cumulative global sales of Nintendo Switch 2 reached more than 10 million units in just the first four months. Revised Full-Year Sales Forecast Reflects Optimistic Outlook In light of this commercial momentum, Nintendo announced an upward revision to its full-year sales forecast.

The company now expects to sell 19 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles and 48 million software units during the fiscal year, representing increases of 4 million and 3 million units respectively compared to original estimates.
