Nintendo has officially announced that pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 24, 2025, following a brief postponement in response to tariffs impacting US imports.
The company’s original plan to launch pre-orders on April 9 was put on hold as Nintendo assessed the effects of ongoing trade policies, causing uncertainty among fans eager to secure the next-generation console.
In a public statement released on its website, Nintendo addressed concerns regarding the potential impact of tariffs on consumer costs.
The company clarified that the Nintendo Switch 2 will debut in the United States at its previously revealed price point of $449.99.
This price will also apply to the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle, which will retail at $499.99.
Launch titles remain unaffected by the tariffs, with Mario Kart World priced at $79.99 and Donkey Kong Bananza at $69.99 for both physical and digital editions.

At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S.
will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99.
Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch," Nintendo stated via its official platform.
However, Nintendo confirmed that tariffs will result in a moderate, approximately $5 increase per accessory in the Switch 2 lineup.
This adjustment, likely intended to offset import costs while maintaining the console’s MSRP, affects essential add-ons like controllers and peripherals.

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available via a lottery system for registered My Nintendo accounts beginning May 8, 2025.
