Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is headed to Nintendo Switch 2, with a Japan release date set for October 29, 2026.

The follow-up fighting game, developed by CyberConnect2, will receive a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, publisher announcements and reporting by outlets such as Gematsu confirm.

According to Gematsu, owners of the existing Nintendo Switch version will be able to purchase a digital upgrade pack to move to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

A physical Nintendo Switch 2 release has also been confirmed for the Japanese market and will be sold in a bundle that includes the Infinity Castle – Part 1 Character Pass DLC.

At the time of the announcement, no technical specifications or performance improvements for the Switch 2 Edition have been disclosed by the developer or publisher.

Game structure and modes

CyberConnect2’s title continues the series’ focus on story-driven single-player action and competitive versus play.

The game’s Story Mode lets players control Tanjiro Kamado through narrative arcs drawn from the anime, including the Entertainment District Arc, the Swordsmith Village Arc, and the Hashira Training Arc.

In journalistic terms: the single-player campaign recreates those major anime storylines and places players in the central battles against high-ranking demons alongside key allies.

The game’s VS Mode expands the roster and competitive systems.

The title features more than 40 playable characters, including the nine Hashira, and adds systems described by the developer as Dual Ultimates and Gear to broaden combat options.

The versus suite supports both online and offline play, allowing players to take on new challenges across local and networked modes.
