Pikmin Bloom Invades London: Nintendo Announces Special Trafalgar Square Event for Japan Matsuri 2025

Nintendo and Niantic are set to deliver a unique Pikmin Bloom experience to London’s Trafalgar Square as part of the upcoming Japan Matsuri festival, scheduled for September 21st, 2025.

This annual celebration of Japanese culture in the UK will feature an engaging, Nintendo-branded event that highlights both Pikmin Bloom’s innovative gameplay and the enduring appeal of the Pikmin franchise. For the first time at Japan Matsuri, Nintendo will host a dedicated Pikmin booth, encouraging festival-goers and Pikmin Bloom fans to join the action via their mobile devices.

Visitors to Trafalgar Square on the day of the event will gain access to a special in-app walking mission through Pikmin Bloom, awarding participants with a coveted Gold Seedling.

Successfully completing this mission will yield a semi-exclusive Decor Pikmin, rewarding players for their real-world exploration. According to official details, the Pikmin booth will also provide access to a selection of rare Decor Pikmin seedlings.

These include sought-after versions such as the Mario Hat Pikmin and the Fortune Pikmin—special variants that ordinarily can only be collected near shrines and temples in Japan.

At Japan Matsuri, however, attendees will be able to unlock these unique Pikmin by visiting specific areas within Trafalgar Square during the event. Enhancing the on-site experience, Nintendo’s pop-up will feature an augmented reality (AR) photobooth, allowing guests to capture memorable photos and videos with Pikmin characters.

This interactive activity provides participants with a digital souvenir, further bridging the gap between the digital game world and the real-world festivities. Pikmin Bloom is available as a free download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Leading up to the event, from September 9th through 30th, players can also join the in-game ‘Walk Together with Japan Matsuri’ Pikmin Bloom Party Walk, unlocking additional interactive opportunities in concert with the festival’s celebrations. The Pikmin Bloom Special In-App Challenge will be held at London’s Trafalgar Square, North Terrace, on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, with activities scheduled from 10am to 8pm.

This initiative further cements Nintendo and Niantic’s commitment to blending real-world engagements with mobile gaming innovation.
