Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe: Classic Wii Platformer Gets HD Revival on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo continues to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its iconic pink hero with the return of a fan-favorite adventure.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, an enhanced HD version of the acclaimed 2011 platformer, is set to launch on Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2023.

Announced during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct broadcast, the title marks a significant chapter in Kirby’s rich history and brings the classic experience to a new generation of players. Developed by the revered HAL Laboratory, the original Kirby’s Return to Dream Land was first released on the Nintendo Wii, delighting fans with its cooperative gameplay and inventive Copy Abilities.

This new Deluxe edition preserves the charm of the original while introducing modern upgrades designed for the Nintendo Switch.

For the first time, players will experience fully remastered HD visuals and enjoy rebalanced gameplay mechanics tailored for the Joy-Con controller. The story begins as a mysterious spaceship—helmed by the enigmatic Magolor—crash-lands on Planet Popstar.

Kirby, teaming up with familiar allies, embarks on a quest to help Magolor and restore his ship’s missing pieces.

Throughout their journey, players encounter a wide range of enemies, with Kirby inhaling foes to gain new abilities.

Deluxe introduces the all-new Mecha Copy Ability, expanding the game’s roster of powers and offering a fresh tactical dimension to both returning and new fans. A key highlight of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is its robust multiplayer support.

Up to four players can join the adventure concurrently on one Nintendo Switch system, each choosing to play as Kirby and making full use of their favorite abilities.
