Nintendo has confirmed it will stop selling Nintendo Switch hardware to retailers in Europe from mid-February 2027, a move that also ends sales through the official Nintendo Store.

The decision covers the full Switch hardware family — the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and the Nintendo Switch OLED Model — and comes almost ten years after the platform's launch on March 3, 2017.

In a formal notice, Nintendo said that beginning in mid-February 2027 it will “no longer sell to retailers hardware in the Nintendo Switch family of systems — specifically Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch — OLED Model.” The company added that “sales of Nintendo Switch hardware on Nintendo Store will also end in mid-February 2027,” and advised customers to check with local retailers about availability going forward.

Nintendo reiterated that existing Switch owners will continue to be able to play their current games and use accessories, and that Nintendo Switch Online and related services will continue for the foreseeable future.

Key points at a glance:

- Effected models: Nintendo Switch (original), Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch OLED Model

- Region affected: Europe

- Sales cut-off: Mid-February 2027 (Nintendo Store and European retail)

- Services: Nintendo Switch Online and other digital services will remain active

The announcement was published as part of a broader company communication about product revisions.

Nintendo indicated those revisions will affect its hardware roadmap, including plans related to future devices that may offer user-replaceable batteries.

Nintendo did not provide details on whether the same retail sales changes will be applied in other regions, and the company has not announced comparable cut-off dates for territories such as North America.

The Nintendo Switch family has been Nintendo’s most successful console line to date, with a vast and growing library across physical and digital storefronts including the Nintendo eShop.

For European consumers, the mid-February 2027 date marks a clear end to new retail distribution of Switch hardware, though software support and online services will continue to support the installed base.

Retailers and consumers in Europe should monitor local store inventories and Nintendo’s regional communications for updates on stock, final sales windows and support timelines as the company transitions its hardware strategy.
