Nintendo has officially announced an exciting new slate of Mario-themed initiatives, introducing the 'Hello, Mario!' app for both Nintendo Switch and smart devices, alongside a range of toys, books, and digital content designed for families.
This move anticipates the company’s celebration of Mario’s 40th anniversary this coming September and reflects Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to engaging audiences of all ages with its flagship character.
Set for release on August 26, 2025, the free 'Hello, Mario!' app will be available for download on the Nintendo Switch eShop as well as on compatible iOS and Android devices (requiring iOS 15 or Android 6.0 or later).
The app allows children—and their parents—to intuitively interact with a 3D representation of Mario’s face, reminiscent of the iconic start menu from Super Mario 64.
Users can pull, stretch, and spin Mario’s head, with the character responding dynamically to inputs for a playful and interactive experience.
Nintendo describes the app as a tool that enables parents and young children to engage together and enjoy Mario’s various reactions on screen.
The 'Hello, Mario!' app is part of a broader initiative under the 'My Mario' brand.
This line will also include two new wooden block sets and a special board book, perfect for young fans and families looking to explore Nintendo’s world in tangible ways.
In addition to physical products, Nintendo is set to launch a series of stop-motion animated short videos, each approximately one minute long, showcasing Mario displaying a range of expressions and movements.
These shorts will be made freely available via the official 'My Mario' website and other digital channels, broadening accessibility for fans everywhere.
Looking further ahead, Nintendo has announced plans to expand the My Mario line with additional merchandise, including apparel, general goods, and plush toys, scheduled for international release in early 2026.
These initiatives build on the increasing momentum for the Super Mario franchise, which has consistently set industry benchmarks both in software sales and brand engagement since its introduction in 1985.
This comprehensive suite of new Mario content and products demonstrates Nintendo’s desire to connect generations and set the stage for major anniversary festivities.
As the company nears four decades of Mario, these accessible, interactive experiences are poised to engage a global audience and reinforce Mario’s enduring legacy within the gaming world.
