Nintendo offered fans their first official glimpse of the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 last week, confirming a '2025' launch window.
While the Kyoto-based gaming giant has yet to specify an exact release date, third-party publisher and accessory manufacturer Nacon has provided a clearer timeframe, narrowing down when gamers might get their hands on the next-generation hardware.
According to its latest financial earnings report, Nacon projects that Nintendo’s forthcoming console will be released in the 'first half of 2025/26,' which translates to any time between April and September 2025 based on the fiscal calendar commonly used in the games industry.
This information, first highlighted by industry analyst @MauroNL3 on Twitter and later reported by Video Games Chronicle (VGC), points to a more defined Switch 2 release window than Nintendo itself has disclosed.
Nacon, well-known for its gaming accessories and publishing efforts, expects the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 during this period to significantly boost its financial performance in the subsequent fiscal year.
The company noted in its summary to investors that 'compatible games and a full range of accessories' are already in development to support the anticipated arrival of the new console.
Notably, Nacon recently showcased a range of upcoming Switch 2-compatible accessories, including Joy-Con wheels designed for the anticipated release of 'Mario Kart 9.' This move demonstrates the accessory manufacturer's commitment to being ahead of the curve as Nintendo readies its new hardware for market.
While Nintendo remains tight-lipped about specifics, the company's next major Direct Presentation is scheduled for April 2, 2025.
Industry watchers expect this event to shed further light on the Switch 2’s features, game lineup, and potentially a finalized release date.
Following the presentation, various hands-on opportunities for press and industry professionals are planned in the ensuing months, aiming to build excitement leading up to launch.
Nacon’s expectations, paired with their early accessory reveals, suggest that third-party partners are already gearing up for the Switch 2 rollout.
The narrowed April–September 2025 window aligns with Nintendo’s history of launching new systems in the spring or autumn, optimizing for both market readiness and consumer demand.
With continued success on the Nintendo Switch platform, Nintendo and its partners are betting big on a smooth and lucrative transition to the Switch 2.
As the next generation of Nintendo hardware approaches, fans and industry insiders alike will be closely watching every new announcement from today's industry leaders.
