MOSS Responds to Raiden Fighters Remix Collection Frame Rate Issues on Nintendo Switch

MOSS Addresses Frame Rate Problems in Raiden Fighters Remix Collection for Nintendo Switch The launch of Raiden Fighters Remix Collection for Nintendo Switch, released on February 26, 2026, was highly anticipated by retro gaming fans eager to relive the classic arcade shooters on modern hardware.

Published and developed by MOSS, the current rights holder of the Raiden franchise, the collection features Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet—each available in their respective Japanese and "hardcore" International versions, complemented by a remixed soundtrack of 30 songs.

However, the compilation has faced criticism due to various performance issues, most notably inconsistent frame rates, altered color balance, and limited visual and audio options. Shortly after release, fans took to forums and social media platforms to voice their concerns.

Players highlighted that, unlike the 2008 Xbox 360 release which maintained the original gameplay speed, Raiden Fighters Remix Collection runs at 60 frames per second (fps) instead of the arcade standard 54 fps.

This difference causes the game to play approximately 1.1 times faster than intended, resulting in a gameplay experience that many consider "unacceptable," especially for those seeking authenticity in classic arcade ports. In response to the widespread feedback, MOSS issued an official statement through its Representative Director, Toshinobu Komazawa.

The company acknowledged receiving "numerous reports" regarding the gameplay frame rate discrepancies in the Nintendo Switch version.

Komazawa apologized for the "lack of thorough quality checks before release" and specifically confirmed that the original arcade versions of Raiden Fighters titles were designed to run at 54fps, while the current Switch release runs at 60fps.

According to the statement, this speedup has "a significant impact on gameplay" and detracts from the intended experience. MOSS has committed to addressing the problem in a timely manner.

The company revealed that its development team is already at work on an improvement patch that will allow the game to run at the original 54fps.

"We will release the patch as soon as it is completed," Komazawa promised, adding that updates on the patch’s progress will be regularly shared on MOSS’s official website and social media channels. Beyond technical fixes, MOSS emphasized a renewed focus on internal quality control to prevent similar issues in future releases.

The company also stated that it is reviewing additional comments and requests from the community for further improvements to Raiden Fighters Remix Collection. While the recent release reflects a growing trend of bringing classic arcade games to the Nintendo Switch, players have come to expect a level of polish seen in successful retro compilations by other developers.

MOSS’s prompt acknowledgment and commitment to patching demonstrate the importance of community feedback—and consumer expectations—for modern retro game ports.

As the patch rolls out, fans remain hopeful that the updated collection will soon deliver the authentic Raiden Fighters experience they remember from the arcade era.
