Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Day One Update Adds Amiibo Support and Switch 2 Features

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the highly anticipated entry in the acclaimed Metroid series developed by Retro Studios, has launched with a significant Day One update that enhances its compatibility and gameplay across Nintendo hardware.

Released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, this update demonstrates Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to refining player experience and integrating innovative features. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond marks a pivotal chapter for the franchise, debuting years after the last mainline title and making its way to both legacy Switch consoles and the advanced Nintendo Switch 2.

In line with major first-party releases, Nintendo rolled out an initial update upon release—version 1.1.0—aimed at expanding functionality and improving overall playability. A key highlight of this update is the introduction of amiibo support.

Players can now access the new amiibo section directly from the pause menu, allowing them to integrate compatible figures into their gameplay for added rewards and features.

In addition, the update enables controller vibration during cinematic sequences, further immersing fans in the atmospheric world Retro Studios is known for crafting. The patch notably adds a ‘Switch 2 Edition’ prompt for those launching Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on Nintendo Switch 2 systems.

Upon selecting this option from the post-title screen menu, users are directed to the dedicated Upgrade Path page on the Nintendo eShop, streamlining access to the latest system enhancements. Nintendo has also updated the game's classification for Brazil, with the 'ClassInd' rating moving from 12 to 14, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements.

Additional user experience improvements include a change in requirements for unlocking certain cutscenes in the Gallery; instead of necessitating a 100% item recovery rate, players now simply need to complete the main story.

Hard Mode receives enemy difficulty balance tweaks to provide a more refined challenge. A Nintendo representative summarized the update, stating that several adjustments and fixes are included with version 1.1.0, all focused on optimizing gameplay and tailoring the title to both returning fans and the new generation experiencing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on advanced hardware. This launch update underscores Nintendo’s dedication to quality releases and ongoing support for blockbuster titles on both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 platforms.

Fans can now access the newly enhanced features and look forward to an even richer journey through the Metroid universe.
