Castlevania: Belmont's Curse — Rose Belmont Confirmed as Protagonist, October 15, 2026 Release Set

Konami has officially confirmed Rose Belmont as the player character in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse and set a release date for October 15, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam, with a Nintendo Switch launch still to be determined.

The announcement, published on the game's official site, also accompanied new key art by Katsuya Terada, credited by Konami alongside the reveal.

Background and timeline

The reveal closes a brief period of public confusion.

On March 9, 2026, Sony's digital listings appeared to identify Sonia Belmont as the protagonist; Sony later removed that reference.

Konami's June 8, 2026 update clarified the matter by naming Rose Belmont — described on the official site as the daughter of Trevor Belmont — as the game's lead.

Official synopsis, rewritten

Konami's site frames the story as Rose joining her father Trevor to confront a spreading evil: the pair navigate a city set aflame as they pursue monstrous threats tied to a looming castle.

Armed with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, Rose and Trevor are presented as partners on a hunt to stop the beasts pouring from the castle's influence.

Series context and canon notes

Belmont's Curse is a new entry in the long-running Castlevania franchise, which previously featured characters such as Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades in Castlevania III and the Netflix animated adaptation.

Sonia Belmont originally appeared in Castlevania Legends, a title later described by former series producer Koji Igarashi as non-canon due to continuity conflicts with the main series.

Sonia was also linked historically to the cancelled Dreamcast project Castlevania: Resurrection.

The character has made recent appearances in crossover contexts, including the Ode to Castlevania DLC for Vampire Survivors.

Release and platforms

Konami confirms the game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam on October 15, 2026.

The company has not announced a firm Nintendo Switch release date.

As details continue to roll out on Konami's official channels, the confirmation of Rose Belmont and Terada's key art provide clear signposts for fans tracking the series' next major entry.
