The July 2025 Pokémon Presents broadcast delivered a wealth of news for Pokémon fans and Nintendo Switch owners, unveiling highly anticipated game updates, fresh titles, and collaborations that expand the Pokémon universe across multiple platforms.
The Pokémon Company staged its global live-streamed event to announce developments headed to both the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch, as well as mobile devices, cementing the franchise’s reach and popularity well into 2026.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – New Adventure in Lumiose City
Scheduled for launch on October 16, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to redefine the adventure experience for Trainers by bringing the vibrant Lumiose City to life.
By day, Trainers can explore this bustling metropolis, encountering wild Pokémon—some appearing in formidable forms called Alpha Pokémon, distinguished by their size, glowing red eyes, and heightened difficulty to catch.
At night, the city transforms as players compete in the Z-A Royale, an intense battle circuit against powerful Trainers, including a notable face-off with Corbeau, leader of the Rust Syndicate.
Players will engage in investigations and detective work alongside Emma, searching for missing Pokémon and items, while also collaborating with Mable at the Pokémon Research Lab to study and support citywide Pokémon populations.
These interactions offer meaningful rewards such as Technical Machines.
Additionally, upon arrival, Trainers can choose to align with Team MZ, a group committed to Lumiose’s safety and comprising dynamic characters like up-and-coming designer Naveen and talented dancer Lida.
A new twist is the emergence of Rogue Mega Evolution—certain wild Pokémon can now Mega Evolve independently, causing citywide disturbances.
Guided by Quasartico Inc., Team MZ investigates and calms these Pokémon, rewarding successful Trainers with rare Mega Stones.
Among the newly discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon, Mega Dragonite stands out, sporting Dragonair-like attributes and enhanced flight capabilities.
Pokémon Champions – Competitive Recruiting and New Modes
Set for release in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, Pokémon Champions introduces innovative mechanics to competitive play.
Trainers can recruit Pokémon for their roster through Trial Recruitment—testing Pokémon temporarily in battle—or secure permanent additions using Victory Points (VP) earned in Ranked Battles and other gameplay.
Players may personalize their teams by training Pokémon to refine their abilities and stats.
Three battle formats punctuate the experience:
- Ranked Battles: A skill-based global ladder
- Casual Battles: Friendly matches without ranking pressure
- Private Battles: Face-offs among friends or family
Pokémon Friends – Wholesome Puzzle Fun Launches Instantly
Launching immediately on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and compatible mobile devices, Pokémon Friends—developed with Wonderfy Inc.—invites players to solve over 1,200 brain-bending puzzles inspired by the Pokémon world.
Rewards from these challenges include plush-making materials, which can be used to craft and display Pokémon plush in customizable plush rooms.
Think Town’s residents provide quests, and daily engagement is encouraged via diverse family-friendly features and up to five separate save files.
Trainers can collect up to 150 unique plush and track their progress across a versatile in-game calendar.
