Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary Events Announced for Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco Stores

Nintendo has officially unveiled a series of in-person celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the iconic Super Mario Bros.

series, offering fans the opportunity to commemorate four decades of Mario’s legacy at the Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco stores.

Since its original release in 1985, Super Mario Bros.

has become a cornerstone of the video game industry, inspiring generations of players and spawning some of the best-selling titles on platforms from the Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo Switch. To honor this extraordinary milestone, Nintendo will host special anniversary events at its flagship retail locations in September 2025.

According to announcements published by Nintendo, these festivities will allow fans to get up close with the beloved mascot, participate in community challenges, and revisit classic titles spanning the franchise’s rich history.

As noted by Nintendo representatives, 'Fans are encouraged to join us as we celebrate Mario's enduring popularity with exclusive experiences at both of our U.S.

store locations.' The centerpiece of the celebration is a unique chance to meet Mario in person and capture the moment with a photo opportunity.

Mario will make appearances at Nintendo New York on Friday, September 19 from 5:00 p.m.

to 7:00 p.m.

Eastern Time, and again on Saturday, September 20 from 11:00 a.m.

to 1:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Nintendo San Francisco will welcome Mario for meet-and-greet sessions on Saturday, September 20 from 1:00 p.m.

to 5:00 p.m.

Pacific Time, and Sunday, September 21 from 12:00 p.m.

All events are first come, first served and capacity is limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spot. Beyond photo opportunities, fans can also take part in competitive challenges on Saturday, September 27 from 11:00 a.m.

Participants will have the chance to go head-to-head with official Nintendo ambassadors in classic games from the Super Mario library, including Super Mario All-Stars: Super Mario Bros.
