The title is positioned as a 3D narrative adventure created specifically for preschool players, blending exploration, character customization and light cooperative play.
Infinigon describes the project as a "story-driven, exploration-led experience designed for preschoolers," centered on becoming a new resident of Sesame Street as the neighbourhood prepares for a community celebration.
Players create and personalise their own character, meet iconic residents such as Elmo, Grover, Bert and Ernie, and complete gentle activities across familiar locations including Big Bird's nest and the Count's mansion.
Outright Games outlined the design goals for the release, saying the game prioritises an unpressured, warm narrative and intuitive controls to make it an accessible first gaming experience for young children.
The publisher also noted that the title supports two-player local co-op so caregivers, siblings or friends can play together, and emphasized that parents can feel confident allowing children to explore a trusted world based on the long-running Sesame Street brand.
Key features listed by the publisher include:
- Join the Neighbourhood: Create your own character and meet Elmo, Tango, Abby and other Sesame Street friends.
- Explore the Street: Begin at your apartment and unlock locations such as Big Bird's nest and the Count's mansion.
- Bring Everyone Together: Take part in cooking, photography and farming quests either solo or in local co-op.
- Travel with Tango: Use Tango as a companion to navigate the neighbourhood.
- The Stage Is Yours: Customise colourful backdrops, lighting and special effects for in-game performances.
Sesame Street: Friends and Fun will be available both at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch on 9 October 2026.
The announcement follows Outright Games’ publishing history of family-oriented licensed titles and adds another accessible option aimed at introducing preschoolers to interactive entertainment on Nintendo platforms.
