Famitsu Charts: Derby Stallion 2 Tops Japan Game Sales for Week of Sep 21–27 on Switch 2

Famitsu's latest weekly sales report for the period of September 21–27 shows Derby Stallion 2 debuting at No.1 on Nintendo's next-generation hardware, Switch 2, while a mix of established franchises and new releases populate the rest of the top ten.

The update, compiled and published by Famitsu and summarized by outlets such as Nintendo Life, offers a snapshot of Japan's retail and physical software market for the week.

Derby Stallion 2 led software sales with 29,336 units on Switch 2 in its first tracked week.

Rhythm Heaven Groove continued strong on the original Nintendo Switch with 27,309 units for the week and a lifetime total surpassing 1,049,922.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, which opened with over 120,000 copies in its debut, added 26,728 units this week to remain in third place with a running total of 153,859 copies.

Nintendo Life noted that Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave experienced a notable week-to-week decline in additional copies sold, adding 26,728 units in the latest reporting period.

The Famitsu table also recorded several newcomers: Silent Hill: Townfall entered at fourth on PS5 with 13,596 units; the new release of Dragon Quest XI S: Shadows of an Elusive Age — Definitive Edition for Switch 2 placed fifth with 10,844 units; and EA Sports FC 27 made appearances at sixth (PS5, 9,873) and ninth (Switch 2, 5,952).

Other titles in the top ten included Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Switch (8,052 weekly; lifetime 1,618,104), Splatoon Raiders on Switch 2 (7,405 weekly; lifetime 671,202), and Onimusha: Way of the Sword on PS5 (5,141 weekly; lifetime 110,087).

On the hardware side, Switch 2 again led console sales in Japan with 32,198 units for the week and a reported lifetime figure of 6,360,353 units.

Sony's PlayStation 5 Digital Edition sold 9,470 units in the same period, and the combined sales of the three PS5 models (9,730 units) surpassed the combined sales of the three Switch (2017) SKUs (6,306 units) for the week.

Other hardware figures included the Switch OLED Model (3,108 weekly; lifetime 9,638,465) and the Switch Lite (2,355 weekly; lifetime 7,036,371).
