Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Receives Major Free Update 2.0 on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have officially released the second major free update for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, available now on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The much-anticipated Version 1.0.3 patch brings a wealth of new content and improvements, continuing to enhance the action-packed hack-and-slash experience for fans worldwide.

Since its initial launch, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has captivated players with its blend of large-scale battles and iconic characters from the Legend of Zelda universe, and this latest update further extends its replayability and challenge. Key Features Added in Version 1.0.3 One of the headline additions is the new "Phantom Ganon" feature, which can now randomly occur in previously completed battles.

When triggered, a portion of enemies will be replaced by upgraded Vicious Enemies or Gloom Spawn, offering a fresh level of challenge and enabling players to earn more Pure Zonaite Steel than standard encounters.

Additionally, the chance to face Phantom Ganon himself after defeating powerful enemies creates high-stakes scenarios and rewards skillful play. Another significant enhancement is the introduction of the "Forbidden" difficulty mode.

This new highest-level difficulty tier provides a step up from the previously toughest "Very Hard" mode, tasking players with even more punishing battles.

Completing a set number of battles in Forbidden difficulty nets exclusive rewards, such as increased Pure Zonaite Steel and an expanded maximum for Special Rations. Expanding Content: New Challenges, Weapons, and Unique Skills Alongside these features, the update adds multiple new challenges and quests to the Hyrule Map, especially after clearing the main storyline.

Players will encounter new Vicious Enemy variants, including Lizalfos and Chuchus.

Additionally, the Tanagar Meditation Hall on the sky island is now accessible, introducing special sync strike mechanics for teams of two characters. The Mysterious Construct character receives new unique skills for one-handed, two-handed, and spear weapon types.

For example, the Shield Charge skill allows players to break through enemy attacks and land a powerful spinning slash when timed correctly.

All these abilities can be unlocked by completing the newly added challenges and quests in this update. A notable addition to the arsenal is the Forbidden Blade, a one-handed weapon corrupted by Gloom, now available to the Mysterious Construct and various warriors.

This weapon unlocks upon the successful completion of specific new battles, which include challenges focused on particular warriors and intense showdowns against powerful enemies. Improvements and Fixes Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Version 1.0.3 also implements notable quality-of-life improvements.

For instance, side quests requiring sync strikes can now be completed by non-controlled characters, ensuring smoother progress.

Adjustments have been made to tutorials, bonus conversation navigation, and capstone features like weapon enhancements for players maximizing their Zonaite Steel. The update addresses several bugs as well, such as incorrect tracking of Electric Lizalfos in the Material Sensor, challenges not appearing as intended, and audio issues in two-player split-screen mode.

These fixes further solidify the game’s overall stability and enjoyment on the Nintendo Switch 2. With this update, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo reaffirm their commitment to supporting Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment post-launch.

Fans can access the Version 1.0.3 patch now on the Switch 2 eShop and continue their battles across Hyrule with new content and smoother gameplay.
