Forever Entertainment has officially confirmed the highly anticipated arrival of House of the Dead 2: Remake for the Nintendo Switch, with a release window slated for Spring 2025.
This announcement follows years of speculation and eagerly awaited updates since its initial reveal alongside the original game's remake back in 2019.
The news marks a significant milestone for fans of SEGA’s legendary on-rails arcade shooter franchise, which first captivated players in the late 1990s.
House of the Dead 2: Remake is being developed by Megapixel Studio and brings players back into the zombie-ridden streets of Italy, following iconic AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart two years after the events of the first game.
The newly released trailer showcases dramatically overhauled visuals that align with the high standards set by the 2022 remake of House of the Dead, ensuring an experience that is both modern and faithful to its arcade roots.
Speaking on the improvements, Forever Entertainment emphasized that the remake features enhanced graphics, a newly arranged soundtrack with the option to play the original score, and a variety of gameplay modes.
"Our goal was to preserve the core gameplay that fans remember while enhancing it with modern features and visuals," a representative for the publisher stated in a press release.
Players can look forward to several gameplay modes, including:
- **Classic Campaign:** Continue the narrative as AMS agents investigate a city overrun by undead creatures, almost two years after the original outbreak.
- **Boss Mode:** Challenge yourself by taking on the game's bosses in timed encounters.
- **Training Mode:** Hone your skills with dedicated training scenarios to prepare for the onslaught ahead.
The Nintendo Switch version also supports co-op mode, allowing friends to team up locally for the full House of the Dead experience.
Multiple endings and branching level paths provide replayability and depth, catering to both returning fans and newcomers alike.
While the initial House of the Dead: Remake release on Switch in 2022 received mixed feedback due to technical performance and control issues, Forever Entertainment and Megapixel Studio have aimed to address these concerns in the sequel.
The updated release will be available via the Nintendo eShop in Spring 2025, with additional details on pre-orders and digital features expected to be announced in an upcoming Nintendo Direct.
House of the Dead 2 remains one of SEGA’s most celebrated arcade shooters, and its modern revival for Nintendo Switch reinforces the ongoing commitment by developers to revitalize classic franchises for new hardware generations.
