Description

Hitman: World of Assassination launched as a day-one title for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the critically acclaimed stealth action series to fans eager for the new hardware experience.

However, despite its engaging gameplay and signature level design, the title has encountered significant performance challenges on Nintendo’s latest console. Since release, many players have reported that Hitman: World of Assassination struggles to maintain a stable frame rate, with the unlocked frame rate consistently failing to reach the benchmark 60fps.

This issue is especially pronounced when playing in docked mode, where users experience frequent stuttering.

In comparison, handheld mode leverages Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology, marginally improving visual smoothness, but the core problem remains a major concern for Switch 2 users. Developer IO Interactive has acknowledged the community’s concerns and assured players that solutions are on the way.

In a statement provided to VGC, a spokesperson for the studio explained, "The team is working on some of those performance issues right now," directly referencing the frame rate instability as a top priority.

Although IO Interactive did not offer a detailed timeline or specifics regarding the pending fix, they indicated their goal is to address these problems through an update planned for release "over the Summer." This response gives the development team time to properly fine-tune their optimizations while keeping fans informed of ongoing progress. Notably, IO Interactive confirmed that the experience gained from resolving Hitman: World of Assassination’s Switch 2 issues will also benefit the studio’s upcoming project, 007 First Light.

Scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, 007 First Light was officially announced last month, with a comprehensive gameplay reveal slated for Summer 2024.

The studio emphasized that improvements implemented in Hitman’s Switch 2 performance patch would be integrated into the development process for the James Bond-inspired adventure, further underscoring IO Interactive’s commitment to delivering high-quality experiences on Nintendo hardware. As players await the arrival of the summer patch, Hitman: World of Assassination continues to offer its signature blend of stealth and strategic assassination missions.

However, for many Nintendo Switch 2 owners, frame rate consistency remains the last barrier to fully enjoying this celebrated title.

With IO Interactive’s proactive approach and transparent communication, players can look forward to a smoother and more optimized gameplay experience in the near future.
