Natsume has officially unveiled Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition for the Nintendo Switch, marking the first time this farming simulation experience arrives on a home console platform.
Scheduled for release in 2025, this enhanced edition introduces new gameplay features, beloved characters from previous titles, and exclusive content designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch version.
Originally launched on mobile platforms, Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home quickly earned praise for its return to classic farming and village-building roots.
With the announcement of the Special Edition for Nintendo Switch, Natsume is poised to welcome both longtime fans and newcomers to the heartwarming world of Alba Village.
Players take on the role of a villager returning to Alba, a once-bustling yet now struggling town in the countryside.
The game's narrative centers around revitalizing Alba Village, encouraging growth, and fostering a sense of community by engaging in farming, animal care, fishing, mining, and a variety of seasonal festivals.
Every action contributes to collecting Happiness, a pivotal resource for restoring the village and attracting new residents.
Highlighting the Special Edition, Natsume introduces several new features.
Chief among them is Doc Jr., who becomes a permanent resident in Alba Village.
Doc Jr.
brings along inventive gadgets exclusive to this version, including the Hoverbike 5000—a sleek hover scooter designed to help you navigate the village's expansive landscape efficiently—and the Cleanmeister Autovac, a state-of-the-art device to streamline barn cleaning tasks.
The expanded roster of bachelors and bachelorettes further enriches the experience, offering players the chance to build relationships and marry a variety of characters.
Two new marriage candidates, Ella and Dr.
Nikolai from Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos, join the cast—adding depth and fresh storylines.
Players can enjoy new cutscenes exclusive to the Special Edition, enhancing immersion and highlighting unique interactions in Alba Village.
"Our community has been eager to play Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home on console and PC," said Hiro Maekawa, president and CEO of Natsume, during the announcement.
"We're excited to bring this Special Edition to Nintendo Switch, with even more inventive tools from Doc Jr., memorable characters from The Winds of Anthos, and all-new cutscenes to make every playthrough special."
Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition will be available on the Nintendo eShop and physical retailers following its 2025 launch.
As Natsume continues to develop new features, fans can anticipate a deeper, enriched farming simulation adventure that pays homage to the cherished traditions of the franchise.
