Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 — 2.60 Update and 'Id' DLC Arrive September 17, 2026

Cygames and Arc System Works have officially announced that Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026.

The port will coincide with the game's 2.60 update and brings the Rising build — an updated iteration of the Granblue Fantasy Versus fighting game — to Nintendo's next-generation handheld-home console.

The 2.60 update scheduled for release on September 17, 2026 includes several additions and balance changes.

Developers say the patch will add a new playable DLC character named "Id," introduce a new stage, implement a new system mechanic, apply adjustments to existing system mechanics, deliver character balance changes and add new costume options.

Cygames and Arc System Works are credited as the teams behind the title; Arc System Works is a veteran fighting-game studio known for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, while Cygames is the original creator of the Granblue Fantasy franchise.

The announcement follows Rising's prior release on PlayStation platforms in 2023, where critics noted its technical and gameplay improvements over the original release.

In coverage of the PS5 edition, Push Square summarized that Rising delivers the experience the original Granblue Fantasy Versus should have provided.

They acknowledged that some players may be frustrated at paying again for an upgraded version and additional DLC, but concluded the package is visually impressive and satisfying to play.

Bringing Rising to Nintendo Switch 2 expands the series' platform reach and gives Switch players access to the upgraded mechanics and DLC roadmap previously available on other platforms.

Players interested in the Switch 2 release should watch official channels — including the publisher pages on the Nintendo eShop and announcements that may appear in future Nintendo Direct presentations — for store listing details, pre-order information and any platform-specific features.

Granblue Fantasy Versus began as a console fighter tied to Cygames' long-running mobile RPG franchise.

Rising represents the definitive fighter build for competitive and casual players alike, and the September 17, 2026 launch on Nintendo Switch 2 will mark the franchise's next major platform expansion.
