Nalua Studio has officially unveiled Gley Lancer: Overdrive for Nintendo Switch, a modern reconstruction of the 1992 Mega Drive shoot-’em-up Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer.
Planned for a 2027 debut, the project rebuilds the original from the ground up with new pixel art, a reworked soundtrack, expanded gameplay systems and additional modes for contemporary platforms.
Set in the fictional year 2025, Gley Lancer: Overdrive follows Federation Navy pilot Lucia Cabrock as she pilots the experimental starfighter Gley Lancer into hostile space to investigate the abduction of her father’s ship, the Oberon.
The game preserves the core side-scrolling shoot-’em-up blueprint while introducing modernized systems intended to broaden tactical options and replayability.

The studio explains the Overdrive mechanic grants players a temporary protective field that can also be aimed at foes in eight directions; destroying enemies with Overdrive releases collectible Cores that raise score multipliers.
That design creates an explicit risk-versus-reward loop, allowing players to prioritize survival or higher scores depending on play style.
The reimagining redraws the original game’s 11 stages with fresh pixel work from artists whose credits include TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Toxic Crusaders and Lords of Exile.
