Epic Games has once again elevated its free-to-play juggernaut, Fortnite, with a landmark collaboration: the iconic animated series, The Simpsons.
Now available across all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, this crossover brings players into the vibrant, cel-shaded world of Springfield Island for a limited-time Battle Royale experience.
Springfield Island, which supports up to 80 players per match, is a meticulously recreated open-world space inspired by the beloved cartoon city.
With distinctive cel-shaded graphics and meticulously designed landmarks, the event invokes a sense of nostalgia while delivering fresh gameplay.
This collaboration showcases Epic Games' continued commitment to innovative content, following the successful release of Fortnite for the upgraded Nintendo Switch 2 hardware earlier this year.
Every week, Fortnite introduces new Simpsons-themed content, ranging from special gameplay modes to unique cosmetic items available in the in-game shop and Battle Pass.
Players can unlock a variety of exclusive outfits, including Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Ned Flanders, Blinky Fishstick, and a Springfield-inspired take on the classic Fortnite character, Peely.
One noteworthy addition is the debut of "Sidekick Peels," a new companion mechanic premiering in the Springfield Battle Pass, with more variations set for future shop rotations.
A cornerstone of the event is the release of original mini-episodes—animated shorts co-produced by Gracie Films and Epic Games.
These episodes provide narrative context for each week’s new content and evolving map changes, and are available globally through Disney+ as well as Fortnite’s official social media channels.
The lineup for November includes episodes titled “Apocalypse D’Oh” (November 1), “Sugar High” (November 10), “Multiplidiocy” (November 17), and “The Incredible Bulk” (November 24).
In a press statement, an Epic Games spokesperson underscored the significance of the crossover: "By combining The Simpsons' rich universe with Fortnite’s dynamic gameplay, we’re creating weekly event experiences that both franchises' fans will love across all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch."
This collaboration underscores Fortnite’s ongoing ability to merge pop culture with interactive experiences, further enhanced by the technical capabilities of newer hardware like the Nintendo Switch 2.
Since its release on June 28, 2024, Fortnite’s Switch 2 version has been praised for its improved performance and graphical fidelity, bolstering player engagement in time for this major event.
Players keen to participate in the Springfield Island event can do so now via the eShop on Nintendo Switch and other supported platforms.
With new Simpsons-themed content rolling out weekly, this crossover marks another high-profile chapter in Fortnite’s celebrated history of unique partnerships.
