Description

Epic Games, the developer behind the globally popular battle royale title Fortnite, has launched a new in-game event titled 'Rainbow Royale' to spotlight and celebrate its vibrant LGBTQIA+ community.

Available across all major platforms—including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC—the Rainbow Royale event runs from now until July 27, bringing a variety of free themed content and entertainment to Fortnite's massive player base. Fortnite, with over 400 million registered accounts worldwide and a strong presence on the Nintendo Switch eShop, has a history of championing inclusivity and community-driven content.

The Rainbow Royale event underscores that ethos by offering players a suite of free, rainbow-themed cosmetic items in the Item Shop.

Highlights include four distinct Rainbow Royale Sprays—Vibrant Heart, Vibrant Llama, Vibrant Boogie, and Vibrant Star—as well as a 'Sunshine & Rainbows' weapon wrap and the playful 'Take a’bow' emote.

These items are available to all players during the event, reinforcing the message that everyone is welcome on the Battle Bus. "We're thrilled to celebrate and recognize the amazing Fortnite LGBTQIA+ community," stated Epic Games through its official announcement.

The sentiment emphasizes that diversity and self-expression are at the core of the Rainbow Royale festivities, inviting every player to participate both in and beyond the game. In addition to the free cosmetics, Fortnite Creative now features a new rainbow flag prop, enabling creators to display their support and imagination in building welcoming spaces.

This aligns with Epic Games' ongoing commitment to creative empowerment and diversity within the gaming world. To further amplify the celebration, Epic Games has integrated music tracks from Rocket League's Love ISLV playlist, which highlights LGBTQIA+ artists, directly into Battle Royale’s popular radio stations.

Players can now tune in to tracks like Big Freedia’s “Platinum” and Lil Nas X’s “Montero” on BeatBox; King Princess’ “Pain,” Troye Sivan’s “STUD,” and Ben Platt’s “Imagine” on Radio Underground; and Daya’s “Bad Girl,” Hayley Kiyoko’s “Found My Friends,” and Kim Petras’ “Malibu” on Power Play.

This cross-game inclusion not only enriches the gameplay experience but also amplifies voices from the LGBTQIA+ music community. The Rainbow Royale event began on July 20 and will conclude on July 27 at 8 p.m.

ET.

As Fortnite continues to lead in gaming events that foster positivity and representation, Rainbow Royale stands as a testament to the game's dedication to inclusivity.

Players on Nintendo Switch and all supported platforms can participate by logging in, unlocking exclusive content, and joining a global celebration of diversity within one of the world’s most popular games.
