Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Adds Forsaken 64 and Magical Vacation

Nintendo has officially announced the next wave of classic titles headed to the Nintendo Switch Online service, expanding its already deep catalog of retro games available to subscribers.

Set to release on September 4, 2025, North American members of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Tier will gain access to Forsaken 64, while users in Japan will be treated to Magical Vacation—a cult classic previously unavailable outside the country. Forsaken 64, originally developed by Probe Entertainment and released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, is making its return via the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Known for its atmospheric first-person shooter gameplay and immersive sci-fi environments, Forsaken 64 was praised at launch for its impressive 3D graphics and fast-paced action.

The game will be accessible through the Mature 17+ section of the Nintendo 64 app, exclusive to Expansion Tier subscribers.

This update represents a significant addition to the N64 library, catering to fans of mature-themed shooters and preserving a standout title from Nintendo’s history. Commenting on the new arrivals, Nintendo confirmed that “Forsaken 64 will be featured in the mature-rated portion of the Nintendo 64 app and is exclusively available to Expansion Tier subscribers.” Subscribers can view the official trailer for Forsaken 64 through the Nintendo Switch eShop and marketing channels, providing a fresh look at its gameplay for a new generation of players. In Japan, Nintendo is turning back the clock with Magical Vacation for the Game Boy Advance app.

Released in 2001, Magical Vacation was developed by Brownie Brown (now known as 1-UP Studio) and is celebrated for its deep RPG mechanics and vivid, imaginative world.

The title never saw an official English release, though its Nintendo DS sequel, Magical Starsign, did reach international audiences.

This marks the first time that Magical Vacation will be available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan, further strengthening the service’s appeal to retro RPG enthusiasts. Both Forsaken 64 and Magical Vacation will become available on September 4, 2025, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Tier members.

The Expansion Tier provides subscribers with access to an expanding selection of classic titles across the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis platforms, alongside additional perks and content for modern games.
