Description

Uniqlo and Square Enix have officially unveiled the highly anticipated Final Fantasy Uniqlo T-shirt collection, launching exclusively in Japan on April 29, 2022.

This unique apparel collaboration commemorates the 35th anniversary of the iconic Final Fantasy video game series, developed by Square Enix, which has left an indelible mark on generations of gamers and established itself as a leading force on Nintendo platforms such as the Nintendo Switch and the eShop. Each of the 16 shirts in the Uniqlo x Final Fantasy collection represents a different mainline installment from the storied franchise, spanning from the original Final Fantasy to more recent entries.

Priced at 1,500 yen (approximately $11 USD) apiece, fans can select their favorite titles or collect the entire series.

For dedicated collectors, Uniqlo offers a limited-edition "Complete Box" set containing all sixteen designs, with only 5,000 units available for purchase at a cost of 24,900 yen (about $196 USD). The launch of this special range follows its early, inadvertent reveal on Uniqlo’s Vietnamese website, which briefly listed the collection before being taken down.

However, images and details were quickly shared across gaming news outlets, including KakuchoPurei and Video Games Chronicle (VGC), fueling widespread anticipation within the gaming community. Final Fantasy and Nintendo share a rich history.

Several titles in the series, such as Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and Final Fantasy XII, have enjoyed renewed success on the Nintendo Switch platform, gaining new audiences via Nintendo Direct announcements and digital releases on the Nintendo eShop.

The enduring appeal of the franchise underscores its influential role within both the RPG genre and the wider industry. While the Final Fantasy Uniqlo T-shirt collection is, for now, exclusive to Japan, international fans can explore the designs and further details on the official Uniqlo website.

At this time, Uniqlo has not announced whether the collection will see a rollout in other regions.

The partnership between Uniqlo and Square Enix stands as a testament to Final Fantasy's cultural legacy, seamlessly blending iconic video game imagery with modern fashion in a nod to decades of adventure and creativity. For additional information and updates regarding worldwide availability, fans are encouraged to visit Uniqlo’s official channels and follow announcements from Square Enix.
