Description

Square Enix delivered significant news during the latest Nintendo Direct by officially announcing the arrival of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on the Nintendo Switch 2.

This marks a milestone for the beloved RPG franchise, as it brings the celebrated reimagining of the PlayStation classic to a Nintendo platform for the first time. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is an extensive re-envisioning of the original 1997 title, which became a cultural phenomenon on PlayStation.

The Remake series is structured as a trilogy, with Final Fantasy 7 Remake marking the first entry and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth following as the second.

While a third and final part is currently in development, Square Enix has yet to disclose further details or showcase any footage of the concluding chapter. The storyline in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade centers around Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER operative now working as a mercenary.

Players join Cloud as he allies with Avalanche, a resistance movement fighting against the oppressive Shinra Electric Power Company.

Set in the dystopian, mako-powered metropolis of Midgar, Cloud and his companions find themselves up against powerful adversaries as they struggle to shape the future of their world. Intergrade elevates the experience with an additional narrative, FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, which stars the nimble Wutai ninja Yuffie Kisaragi.

This unique content unfolds concurrently with the main story as Yuffie infiltrates Midgar, offering fresh gameplay and perspective for both newcomers and series veterans.

Enhanced visuals and enriched storytelling further define the Intergrade edition, making it an essential playthrough for RPG fans. As stated by Square Enix during the presentation, "bringing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade to Nintendo Switch 2 is an exciting step in making the iconic title accessible to a broader audience of gamers." The original Final Fantasy 7 made its way to Nintendo Switch as a re-release, but this is the debut for both Remake and Rebirth on any Nintendo hardware.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake was first launched in December 2021, with Rebirth arriving in 2024, marking significant installments for the franchise since its PlayStation origins. Nintendo Switch 2 owners can look forward to discovering the acclaimed world of FF7 Remake Intergrade and experiencing its modern improvements, expanded storyline, and exclusive content via the Nintendo eShop upon release.
