Square Enix has officially confirmed the long-awaited western release of two beloved titles for the Nintendo Switch: the Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Twin Pack and the standalone physical edition of Final Fantasy IX.

Fans will be able to experience these classic JRPGs in physical format when both editions launch in North America and Europe on December 9, 2025. Previously, these editions were available only in Asian territories, with the Final Fantasy VII & VIII Twin Pack making its debut in 2019 and the physical version of Final Fantasy IX following in 2020.

Now, after years of enthusiastic fan requests and import demand, the acclaimed collection is set to expand its reach to Western markets, continuing Square Enix’s commitment to preserving its celebrated legacy on modern platforms. The Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Twin Pack offers Switch owners both games on a single cartridge—no downloads required.

Final Fantasy VII, renowned for its impactful story and iconic cast, features various enhancements tailored for Nintendo Switch, including accelerated gameplay, the ability to disable encounters, and battle assists.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered delivers updated character models and a suite of gameplay customization options, allowing both newcomers and returning fans to personalize their experience.

The convenience of both games packaged together in one physical edition makes this an attractive addition for collectors and series enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the physical release of Final Fantasy IX brings the critically acclaimed adventure to a new audience.

Players follow the journey of Zidane, Princess Garnet, and a memorable cast, as they uncover secrets surrounding the mystical Crystals and confront a force threatening their world.

The rich narrative, unique character roster, and classic turn-based combat have made Final Fantasy IX a favorite within the franchise, further solidifying its status as a must-play RPG on Nintendo Switch. Square Enix continues to demonstrate its support for the Nintendo Switch platform, with the eShop offering digital versions and now, for the first time in the West, a dedicated physical release for these legendary titles.

Fans can look forward to pre-order details from major retailers in the coming months as the December 2025 launch date approaches. With the physical Final Fantasy VII & VIII Remastered Twin Pack and Final Fantasy IX heading to Nintendo Switch, Western audiences will soon have the opportunity to own and relive these JRPG masterpieces in both digital and collectible physical form.
