Flyhigh Works has confirmed that Cytus II, developed by Rayark, is in development for both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned digital release on the Nintendo eShop worldwide in 2027.
Rayark, the Taipei studio behind mobile rhythm hits Deemo and VOEZ, originally published Cytus II on iOS and Android where it has been downloaded more than 18 million times across the App Store and Google Play.
The publisher frames Cytus II as an expansive rhythm experience built around a global roster of composers and performers.
The game’s soundtrack includes contributions from artists across Japan, Korea, the United States, Europe and Taiwan.
Flyhigh Works said the Switch release will include the songs currently available in the mobile version and that additional songs and characters will be added for the console versions.
In explaining the game's narrative setup, Flyhigh Works described a near-future setting where technology has blurred the line between real and virtual life.
Within a vast virtual internet space called cyTus, a mysterious DJ known as Æsir emerges and announces Æsir-FEST, a mega virtual concert that draws massive global attention and breaks records for simultaneous connections as the event approaches.
The publisher has outlined the headline features gamers can expect:
- Broad musical scope: The title features more than 500 songs spanning multiple genres, created by Japanese and Taiwanese artists among others.
- Difficulty options: The game supports a range of skill levels with Easy, Normal and Chaos difficulty settings so both newcomers and veterans can find an appropriate challenge.
- Core rhythm controls: During performances a 'borderline' moves up and down the screen in time with the music while notes appear from the back of the stage.
Players score points by tapping when notes line up with the moving borderline, with timing and patterns engineered to follow each song's melody and beat.
Flyhigh Works also released a trailer alongside the announcement highlighting the game's music and visual direction.
Cytus II's arrival on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 marks a significant console expansion for Rayark's rhythm franchise and brings the mobile soundtrack to the portable home console family when it launches on the Nintendo eShop in 2027.
