Bully Online Multiplayer Mod Set for Early Access Launch on PC This December

In a significant development for fans of Rockstar Games’ cult classic, Bully: Scholarship Edition, a new fan-made project titled Bully Online is poised to enter Early Access on PC this December.

While Rockstar is currently focused on finishing Grand Theft Auto VI, the active and passionate Bully community has taken it upon themselves to breathe new life into the halls of Bullworth Academy through this ambitious mod. Bully Online was officially unveiled in a video posted by SWEGTA, a well-known Rockstar Games enthusiast and Bully-focused YouTuber.

The mod introduces robust online multiplayer functionality to the PC version of Bully: Scholarship Edition, allowing players to explore the game’s open-world environment together, indulge in mischievous escapades, and role-play with friends.

In addition to cooperative play, players can earn in-game currency, purchase custom vehicles, and join uniquely designed multiplayer minigames. Demonstrations showcased several of Bully Online’s standout features—these include competitive races and a creative first-person shooter minigame called Rat Wars, where players engage in battles with large, weapon-wielding rats.

This expansion of gameplay options provides both nostalgia for veteran fans and innovation for newcomers discovering Bullworth Academy on modern hardware. Speaking about the development process, SWEGTA explained in the announcement that Bully Online has been under development by himself and a small team for an extended period.

He noted that the project leverages the DSL script loader, a versatile plug-in that significantly enhances modding possibilities for the aging open-world title.

By utilizing this tool, the team achieved features and technical feats previously considered unattainable within the game’s engine. According to the official roadmap, Bully Online will first launch in Early Access exclusively for backers who support the development team via Ko-Fi.

Supporters will enjoy perks such as behind-the-scenes content, a unique blue player nametag, an in-game digital camera, and server priority.

After this initial phase, the developers plan to make the mod more widely available to the public. The Bully Online project not only underscores the enduring appeal of Rockstar Games’ 2006 release but also showcases the remarkable dedication and ingenuity within the modding community.

As the Early Access launch approaches, all eyes will be on how the project navigates both technical and legal challenges in the coming months.
