Hardware: Switch 2 tops the chart
According to Famitsu, the Switch 2 led Japan’s hardware rankings with 50,168 units sold this week, up from 24,928 units the previous week.
Sony’s PS5 Digital Edition placed second with 8,512 units, a slight decline from 9,024 units the week prior.
Other Nintendo hardware in the lineup included the Switch Lite (3,771), Switch OLED (2,770), and legacy Switch (626).
Sony’s PS5 Pro and standard PS5 recorded 363 and 309 units, respectively.
Microsoft hardware reported lower figures: Xbox Series X (71), Xbox Series X Digital Edition (57), and Xbox Series X (23).
For context, Nintendo’s original Switch launched worldwide on March 3, 2017, the Switch Lite released on September 20, 2019, and the Switch OLED model followed on October 8, 2021.
Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation consoles both debuted in November 2020.
Software: Splatoon Raiders debuts at No.1
On the software side, a Switch 2 title listed as Splatoon Raiders debuted at No.1 with 474,684 copies sold in its first week, per Famitsu’s chart.
Other top-performing titles for the week include Rhythm Heaven Groove on Nintendo Switch, which added 78,355 units for a running total of 674,592, and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Switch, which sold 23,468 copies this week and has reached 1,500,025 lifetime sales.
Nintendo franchises continued to post strong lifetime figures: Mario Kart World on Switch 2 added 6,661 copies this week for a cumulative total of 3,000,749, and Minecraft on Switch (Nintendo Switch platform) moved 5,106 units this week, bringing its long-term total to 4,245,173.
