Nintendo Switch Continues to Lead Japanese Hardware and Software Sales: Latest Famitsu Chart Analysis The Japanese gaming market continues to showcase its preference for Nintendo platforms, as highlighted by the latest Famitsu sales report.

Nintendo Switch hardware models and first-party titles are consistently outperforming competitors in weekly charts, reinforcing Nintendo’s stronghold in its home territory.

These weekly rankings provide valuable insight into the preferences of Japanese gamers and the sustained momentum of Nintendo’s hybrid console across both hardware and software categories. Hardware sales figures for the most recent week demonstrate Nintendo’s continued dominance.

According to data published by Famitsu, the Nintendo Switch OLED model led hardware sales with 14,064 units sold, followed by the Switch Lite at 8,409 units.

The standard Switch model contributed an additional 2,562 units.

In contrast, PlayStation 5 models recorded 5,210 units for the standard PS5, 2,534 units for the PS5 Pro, and 1,122 units for the PS5 Digital Edition.

Xbox hardware sales remained lower, with the Xbox Series S moving 101 units and the Xbox Series X Digital Edition and standard version selling 58 and 37 units respectively.

The PlayStation 4, although winding down its lifecycle, managed 17 units sold in the same period. For context, the previous week saw higher sales figures across nearly all platforms, led again by the Switch OLED at 19,896 units and Switch Lite at 11,391.

PlayStation 5 models posted 7,274 units for the standard edition and 3,473 for the PS5 Pro.

Xbox Series S and X models saw similar trends, with modest figures of 111 and 23 units respectively.

These shifts highlight ongoing fluctuations in consumer demand, potentially influenced by seasonal trends or game launches. On the software side, Nintendo Switch titles dominated Famitsu’s top ten sales chart.

'Super Mario Party Jamboree' claimed the number one spot, selling 7,041 copies during the week and reaching a cumulative total of 1,264,884 units since its debut.

Capcom’s 'Monster Hunter Wilds' on PlayStation 5 followed closely with 6,149 units for the week, accumulating 793,546 copies sold in total. Long-time best-sellers also continue to demonstrate remarkable staying power.

'Minecraft' on Nintendo Switch moved 5,208 copies (cumulative: 3,857,392), closely followed by 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' with weekly sales of 4,299 and an impressive all-time total of 6,303,574.
