Edia has officially announced the release date for the eagerly anticipated Telenet Revive: Earnest Evans Collection, a comprehensive compilation celebrating the legacy of Wolf Team’s beloved "Anett and Earnest" trilogy.
Set to launch on December 25, 2024, in Japan, this collection will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, marking a significant return for these classic action titles on modern hardware platforms.
The Earnest Evans Collection brings together three important games from the early 1990s that helped define Wolf Team’s impact on the action genre: El Viento (1991) originally for the Sega Mega Drive, Earnest Evans (1991) for Sega Mega-CD, and Anett Futatabi (1993) for Sega Mega-CD.
All three titles feature interlinked stories and iconic characters, making the trilogy a cult favorite among retro gaming enthusiasts.
Edia first hinted at plans for this nostalgic collection in November 2023, generating early excitement with an official artwork reveal on Twitter (now X).
This announcement was followed by a highly successful crowdfunding campaign on Japan’s Makuake platform, which reinforced strong fan demand for a modern re-release.
The Telenet Revive project will offer the Earnest Evans Collection in both digital and physical formats.
According to Edia, the standard edition will retail for 6,800 yen (7,480 yen including tax), while a special limited edition will be available for 12,800 yen (14,080 yen including tax).
The limited edition package includes a physical copy of the game, an exclusive soundtrack CD, a collector’s pin badge, and an acrylic block featuring new artwork that celebrates the trilogy’s vibrant legacy.
Reservations for both editions are already open as of today, demonstrating continued enthusiasm within the fan community.
A statement on Edia's official website indicates that information regarding an English-language release of the Earnest Evans Collection will be provided at a later date, offering hope to international fans eager to experience these classics on Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4.
In a nod to the franchise’s enduring popularity, Edia emphasized their commitment to making these retro titles accessible to contemporary audiences.
Additionally, Limited Run Games, recognized for its specialty physical releases, has announced it will be publishing new English-language editions of Earnest Evans (1991) and Anett Returns/Anett Futatabi (1993) for the Sega CD platform.
This marks the first time these two titles will be available in English for the original hardware, a milestone supported by retro fans worldwide.
These Limited Run Games editions are also expected to ship within 2024, expanding the accessibility of Wolf Team’s classic titles and strengthening their presence in the retro gaming market.
The launch of the Telenet Revive: Earnest Evans Collection exemplifies Edia’s dedication to preserving video game history and providing modern gamers with access to rare, influential titles.
As fans anticipate additional details regarding international releases, this collection promises a comprehensive and authentic experience for collectors and new players alike on Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4.
