EarthBound (Mother 2) Clay Figure Set Released by Hobonichi: Celebrating a Classic SNES RPG

A new collectible release is delighting longtime fans of EarthBound (known as Mother 2 in Japan), as Hobonichi has launched an official five-piece clay figure set inspired by the classic Super Nintendo RPG.

Available now through the Hobonichi store for $170 USD, this hand-crafted set spotlights the core party members from the beloved title—Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo—alongside the iconic series mascot, Mr.

Saturn. This meticulously created figure collection draws its inspiration from the original character models featured in the 1994 Mother 2 (EarthBound) Japanese manual.

These initial designs were 3D scanned to serve as the foundation for the new figures, ensuring authenticity and a faithful recreation of the game's whimsical aesthetic.

Crafted with clay and wire—mirroring the technique used for the original figures—each character is individually packaged in striking gold-colored boxes and protective sleeves. The release of the EarthBound (Mother 2) figure set marks a special celebration of the upcoming “Mother no Katachi” (“The Shape of Mother”) art exhibition, scheduled for July 2025 at the Parco department store in Tokyo’s bustling Shibuya district.
