Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 — Release Date October 1, 2026

Koei Tecmo has set a firm release date for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, announcing the remake will arrive on October 1, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The announcement follows an earlier delay earlier this year that pushed the project to an undisclosed date.

The studio confirmed the original Nintendo Switch will not receive this remaster.

Platform support and technical reasoning

Koei Tecmo attributed the exclusion of the original Switch to the remake being built on Unreal Engine 5, which the company said is not compatible with the original Switch hardware.

In its public statement posted June 2, 2026 via Koei Tecmo America, the publisher apologized to fans and encouraged players to experience the release on the supported platforms, specifically naming Nintendo Switch 2 among the options.

What the Complete Edition includes

The remaster promises to include the full content of the original Dynasty Warriors 3 and its Xtreme Legends expansion.

Koei Tecmo also confirmed a new playable character, Ziluan, who previously appeared in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, will be part of the remaster.

Players who pre-order the game by September 30, 2026 will receive a Retro-Style Red Hare Saddle cosmetic for mounts as a pre-order bonus.

Release details and developer context

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered represents a significant overhaul of the second numbered entry in the Dynasty Warriors franchise, rebuilt on modern technology for current-gen platforms and Nintendo Switch 2.

The title will be available digitally, and Koei Tecmo has shared overview trailers and additional promotional material through its official channels in the lead-up to the October release.

What this means for fans and the eShop

Owners of the original Nintendo Switch will not be able to purchase this remaster on that platform; the developer explicitly stated the title will no longer be available for the original Switch.

Fans planning purchases should note the pre-order deadline of September 30, 2026 for the included cosmetic, and check Koei Tecmo and platform storefronts for final pricing and regional availability updates as the October 1 launch approaches.
