The publisher accompanied the announcement with an overview of the game and an official announcement trailer.
Metro Quester Zero is described as a dungeon exploration RPG set in a post-apocalyptic, futuristic world designed by manga artist Kazushi Hagiwara.
The game’s combat and systems were developed under the direction of Hironori Kato, and Kemco says the design aims to capture the fast-paced excitement and surprises associated with 1980s computer RPGs, blended with modern hack-and-slash mechanics.
Kemco provided a detailed feature list as part of the announcement.
In journalistic terms, those features read as follows:
- Story and setting: The game tasks players with uncovering why the world fell into ruin, the origin of the creatures that now roam it, and the identity of a mysterious blue-haired girl central to the narrative.
The backdrop and character concepts originate from Kazushi Hagiwara’s original artwork.
- Field exploration and resource management: Players will manage fuel and other resources while exploring hostile environments.
Progression includes defeating enemies to gather supplies, securing new bases, recruiting allies, and gradually mapping the world with an automapping system.
- Layer Turn Battle System: Battles use a layered turn system where both allies and enemies can act multiple times within a single turn.
That structure is designed to keep combat fast-paced while rewarding tactical decisions around turn order, speed, and aggro control.
- Loot, customization, and progression: The game emphasizes hack-and-slash loot loops—collecting varied weapons and equipment from enemy drops and hidden caches, upgrading gear, and applying custom enhancements and random special effects.
- New content and expanded world: Kemco notes the title introduces new characters developed via a Skill Panel system, time-sensitive quests and bounty hunts, and an expanded world built across six interconnected layers packed with exploration opportunities.
Kemco’s announcement did not include a release date; the company said timing will be provided later.
