Nintendo Schedules Donkey Kong Bananza Nintendo Direct Ahead of Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo has officially announced a dedicated Nintendo Direct presentation focused on the highly anticipated title, Donkey Kong Bananza.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2025, this special broadcast is set to deliver new details and gameplay information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.

The live event will be streamed at 6am PT / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST and was first detailed through Nintendo’s Nintendo Today app, where the company confirmed that the presentation will include about 15 minutes of content centered on Donkey Kong Bananza’s features and mechanics. Donkey Kong Bananza marks a new chapter for one of Nintendo's most beloved franchises, inviting players to join Donkey Kong on an all-new underground adventure.

In this installment, players must guide Donkey Kong as he navigates the treacherous depths of a subterranean world.

The main objective is to outsmart the mysterious VoidCo organization by collecting Golden Bananas before they can.

Nintendo describes the title as an action-filled journey “full of mayhem, surprises, and bananas,” promising engaging gameplay that leverages Donkey Kong’s signature strength and agility. The game allows players to crash, bash, and climb through destructible environments, tearing off pieces of terrain to create swinging pathways and throw objects.

This dynamic interaction with the world not only highlights Donkey Kong’s power but also rewards creative playstyles, as further areas and secrets become accessible through clever demolition.

According to Nintendo, the more a player pulverizes the environment, the more hidden rewards and new paths are unlocked, enhancing replay value and exploration opportunities within the game. Set for both physical and digital release, Donkey Kong Bananza will launch worldwide on July 17, 2025.

It will be available at retail and through the Nintendo eShop, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
