The demo is available to download from the Nintendo eShop, the publisher confirmed.
Disgaea Mayhem shifts the long-running Disgaea franchise from turn-based strategy into real-time action.
The franchise, developed originally by Nippon Ichi Software and localized in the West by NIS America, is known for deep progression systems and over-the-top damage numbers.
This new entry retains those hallmark systems while placing players directly in the heat of combat.
According to NIS America’s overview, the game follows mercenary N.A., who partners with Princess Tichelle to recover her cherished flan.
The publisher describes the premise as a light-hearted, money-driven adventure in which N.A.’s appetite for paychecks and the princess’s craving for dessert drive the narrative.
Gameplay details released alongside the demo clarify the core loop: players can equip and switch among seven distinct weapon types — including sword, gun, fist, and axe — to alter combat style on the fly.
The published materials emphasize that traditional Disgaea progression systems survive the genre shift: players can grind levels, power up equipment in the Item World, and reincarnate characters to raise base stats.
NIS America also highlighted a new meta mechanic called the Dark Chocolate Assembly, where players pass bills to bolster numbers and push damage output into the millions.
Classic franchise elements make appearances as well; the publisher notes that veteran Disgaea summons and monsters, such as the Prinny, are recruitable companions in the action-oriented environment.
The demo launch includes an overview trailer and a hands-on slice of the combat systems.
Players interested in testing the game ahead of release can find the demo on the Nintendo eShop now.
The full game is scheduled to launch on July 23, per NIS America’s announcement.
