Demonschool Launches on Nintendo Switch: Grid-Based Horror RPG Unveils Stylish Trailer

Demonschool, the highly anticipated grid-based tactical RPG from Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games, has officially made its debut on the Nintendo Switch.

Following a series of development delays, the title is now available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop, arriving alongside an eye-catching launch trailer that showcases its unique blend of supernatural storytelling and strategic gameplay. Set in a world inspired by the psychedelic palette of Italian giallo cinema and the eerie atmospheres of Japanese horror manga, Demonschool follows the story of Faye, a freshman at university and the descendant of a renowned demon-hunting family.

As sinister forces converge on her campus, Faye must confront an impending demonic apocalypse, battling through a semester filled with nightmarish bosses, quirky campus events, and memorable side stories. Players can form a party with up to 15 playable characters, fostering relationships that unlock powerful combo attacks and unique abilities.

For instance, Faye's signature energetic kicks and Varka's chain attacks are just two examples of the personalized skillsets available to teams.

As players guide their squad through various trials—ranging from pop quizzes to intense supernatural confrontations—side missions and training sessions become essential for enhancing combat prowess and team synergy. Demonschool's combat system stands out for its tactical depth, merging chess-like movement on grid-based battlefields with a seamless blend of 2D pixel art and 3D environments.

Strategy unfolds in two phases: the Planning phase, where players plot every tactical move and special ability, and the Action phase, in which the consequences of those decisions are unleashed simultaneously.

The game features an unlimited rewind mechanic, encouraging experimentation and careful planning as players face down gruesome monsters and formidable bosses. A key aspect of Demonschool is its narrative branching, offering up to 13 possible endings based on player decisions, side quest outcomes, and character relationships.

Throughout the journey, players can take on a variety of side quests, participate in unique campus events like karaoke hangouts, and even interact with the team’s beloved dog, Pocket. Demonschool is available now for Nintendo Switch, and can be found on the Switch eShop.

Its launch marks another strong showing for indie developers on the platform—both Necrosoft Games and Ysbryd Games continue to expand the Nintendo Switch’s diverse game library with distinctive, genre-bending experiences.

For fans of tactical RPGs and supernatural adventures, Demonschool delivers a compelling new entry that stands out through style, gameplay innovation, and narrative ambition.
