Description

Dbrand, a well-known accessory manufacturer, has launched a significant replacement initiative for its Joy-Lock Grips designed for the Switch 2 Killswitch case.

After a series of customer reports highlighted problems with the magnetic connection between the Nintendo Switch 2 console and its Joy-Con 2 controllers, Dbrand acted swiftly to address these user concerns by offering redesigned grips free of charge. The issue first came to light when users noticed that, when the Killswitch case was attached, the connection between the device and its controllers would occasionally weaken, resulting in the controllers detaching from the main console.

Although Dbrand initially seemed hesitant to acknowledge the reports, the company soon apologized and committed to replacing the affected accessories at no cost to customers.

In a company statement sent to affected users, Dbrand explained, "The problem can occur under certain one-handed usage scenarios due to a manufacturing tolerance issue identified in the first production run.

While this only impacts a portion of our stock, we have opted for a precautionary approach by offering new Joy-Lock Grips to everyone who purchased the product." The replacement Joy-Lock Grips incorporate three notable revisions: 1.

The retaining lip along the length of the Joy-Con 2 has been completely removed. 2.

The top retaining lip has been extended downward for increased support. 3.

The bottom retaining lip is now longer and fabricated from a more rigid material. These modifications are designed to resolve the detachment issue while maintaining a secure—but slightly flexible—fit for the Joy-Con 2 controllers, all without requiring any adhesive.

As a further upgrade, the replacement sets now include silicone friction pads for the Switch 2 Dock Adapter, an adjustment that Dbrand says will "enable true one-handed undocking." Customers eligible for the replacement program will receive instructions by email and can also consult Dbrand’s official website for further details.

Along with the improved grips and dock accessories, Dbrand is offering a suite of incentives: a color-matched skin to enhance the Switch 2’s USB-C port, a 15% discount code for any additional items purchased with the replacement order, free shipping, and an exclusive "Retro Colormatched" skin inspired by Nintendo 64 aesthetics. Dbrand confirmed that it is currently mass-producing roughly 500,000 sets of the upgraded Joy-Lock Grips and an equivalent number of friction pad kits.

Shipments for these replacements are scheduled to begin in early August 2025. The Switch 2 Killswitch case and Joy-Lock Grips are part of Dbrand’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality Nintendo Switch 2 accessories.

Nintendo Switch 2, which launched to strong sales and broad acclaim, remains a key hardware platform for both Nintendo and third-party peripheral makers.

With this proactive replacement effort, Dbrand aims to reinforce its reputation for responsive customer service and design innovation in the Nintendo accessories market.
