Crunchyroll, the global anime streaming service, has announced that its Nintendo Switch app will be removed from the Nintendo eShop effective October 30, 2026.
The app first arrived on the Switch eShop in 2022, providing console-based access to Crunchyroll’s catalog for Switch owners.
In an email to users, Crunchyroll thanked Switch subscribers for their support and confirmed the timeline for the app’s removal.
The company told users that while the Switch app will be discontinued on October 30, 2026, the Crunchyroll service itself will remain accessible on other platforms.
Crunchyroll noted subscribers can continue streaming the service’s library on crunchyroll.com, via the Crunchyroll mobile app, and across “more than 30 other global and regional platforms and devices” using their existing accounts and subscriptions.
The Switch release in 2022 marked Crunchyroll’s entry to Nintendo’s portable-console hybrid, joining other streaming apps available on the eShop.
With the announced removal, Switch owners will need to use alternative devices—PCs, phones, smart TVs, or other supported gaming platforms—to access Crunchyroll’s catalog after the October 30 date.
Crunchyroll did not list a replacement or a plan to bring the app to any next-generation Nintendo hardware; the company reiterated that the Crunchyroll experience will continue on other devices and platforms.
