Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate Launches Enhanced Switch 2 Edition This December

Super Evil Megacorp has officially announced the upcoming release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate – Switch 2 Edition.

The enhanced edition of the popular roguelike beat 'em up, inspired by the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, arrives for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 16, 2024.

This edition aims to deliver a performance boost and added features to the fast-paced co-operative title that first debuted on Nintendo Switch in 2023. According to the developer, players will be able to purchase the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate – Switch 2 Edition as a standalone title, or as an affordable upgrade pack priced at $2.49 (or equivalent in local currencies) for existing owners of the base game.

The Switch 2 Edition promises to take full advantage of Nintendo’s latest hardware with several key enhancements. Among the improvements, the new edition supports upgraded visuals and more consistent frame rates, offering a smooth gameplay experience at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second when docked.

In handheld mode, the game will scale to 1080p while maintaining the frame rate improvements.

Additionally, the release introduces support for both local GameShare and GameChat functionality, making it easier for friends to join forces in co-op sessions and communicate during intense runs through the game’s procedurally generated levels. A trailer released by Super Evil Megacorp highlights these upgraded features.

While the trailer mentions the inclusion of popular DLC packs such as Metalhead and Casey Jones, it currently remains unconfirmed whether these expansions will be bundled with the Switch 2 Edition or require separate purchase.

Super Evil Megacorp has indicated that further clarification regarding DLC contents will be provided soon. Splintered Fate on the original Switch was well-received for its frenetic action and fresh cooperative mechanics, though the game suffered from noticeable frame drops and occasional crashes at launch.

Since then, the title has undergone multiple updates to improve stability and gameplay.

The transition to Nintendo Switch 2 offers players an opportunity to revisit Splintered Fate with significant technical enhancements and improved local multiplayer features for an optimized experience. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate – Switch 2 Edition launches December 16, 2024 on the Nintendo Switch 2 and will be available via the eShop.

Current owners can upgrade for a nominal fee, while new players can purchase the enhanced version directly.

Continued support and further updates regarding additional content will be shared by Super Evil Megacorp in the coming weeks.
