Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition continues to engage speedrunning enthusiasts with an ever-expanding roster of challenges inspired by classic NES™ titles.

Now available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch platform, this fast-paced compilation challenges players to master a series of bite-sized moments drawn from Nintendo’s legendary 8-bit library.

Developed in celebration of the original Nintendo World Championships and the enduring legacy of NES games, NES Edition tasks players to compete either solo or online and climb the leaderboards in search of ultimate bragging rights. As part of the latest update, Nintendo has announced a fresh set of weekly speedrunning challenges available until March 24 at 1:59 a.m.

The up-to-date lineup includes: - Mushzoom (Super Mario Bros™) - Shivery Start (Ice Climber™) - Knuckle Sandwitch (Zelda II: The Adventure of Link™) - Exit Stage Right (Kirby's Adventure™) - Xtreme Terrain (Excitebike™) These challenges showcase skillful segments from five of the original NES era’s most beloved games, testing precision, agility, and deep game knowledge.

Players worldwide can compete for the fastest times, aiming to reach the top of both global and birth-year leaderboards. Nintendo encourages both seasoned speedrunners and newcomers to participate.

They also recommend revisiting the game if you participated in last week’s challenges.

Within the game, players can view their overall placement, see how they performed against others in their birth year, and watch replays of the top runs for each challenge—all tools designed to help refine techniques and improve rankings. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition boasts over 150 unique speed-focused moments across 13 iconic NES titles.
